Happy Full Moon Day / Ashari Full Moon 2021

I would like to wish and congratulate everyone on the occasion of Happy Ashari  Purnima today.  I wish happiness, peace and longevity to all the creatures of the world.

Ashari Purnima / Purnima Day, one of the major religious festivals of the Buddhist community, is celebrating Ashari Purnima with devotion today.

This day commemorates three significant events in the life of the Buddha.

Prince Siddhartha left his kingdom on this day in search of eternal truth.

After attaining the highest enlightenment as a Buddha, he preached for the first time among his five disciples at Banaras in India on this day.

  The full moon is also important because Buddhist monks start a three-month long solitude in their monasteries for self-correction and atonement from the next day to the full moon.

  Buddhists have been observing rituals on this day for many centuries.  Festivals are celebrated on the occasion of the full moon.
